Mutant

Writer: Simon FaiersSimon Faiers

Another one of my coloured-in story characters, although I'm currently rewriting the story for about the hundredth time, so this character may not survive the latest reshuffle.

I've realised that writing a story in the science fiction genre is *much* harder than writing fantasy. With fantasy you have a whole lot of pre-built races and situation to draw upon, such as dragons, trolls and elves, and you don't have to spend ages trying to make up your own worlds and creatures. Plus with fantasy you don't have to know anything about science. Trying to explain a spaceship, its method of propulsion, its controls and its behaviour in space, is a real pain in the neck. Being able to send your characters through a magic gateway or to their destination via a flying carpet is so much easier.
